The match Karabakh-Shafa was not played. It was registered with the official result 0:3 against both teams.

Karabakh play their home matches in Sumqayit.
Shafa play their home matches in Buzovna.
Khazar Univ. play their home matches in Zabrat.

Result of game played on 2nd April, Shafa-Khazar Univ 1:0, was temporarily annulled by Disciplinary Committee and match ordered to be replayed, but on April 10th, Appeal Committee decided to let the result stand. After this decision, Khazar Univ. withdrew from championship.

Araz withdrew from the league during the first stage of competition.

No matches were played from April 12th to May 4th. All teams bar Shamkir and Shafa refused to continue the league unless AFFA president Fuad Musayev retires. As he did not, the dissident clubs decided to continue the championship independently, playing the matches of 4.round on May 4th. The AFFA does not recognise this competition.

UEFA have decided not to admit any Azerbaijan teams to the club tournament 2002/03.

Following the continuing conflict between almost all clubs and
the president of the Azerbaijan FA, league championship in season 2002/2003 is not played.
