Play out not played because for the 2008/09 season, the League sytem for Northern Ireland was reorganised. New name is the IFA Premiership. League is reduced on 12 teams. Criteria for teams are: Results in past three seasons, finance, infrastructure, business planning, experience of staff and attendances. After considering that criterias, IFA decide to accept 12 applications.
Relegated clubs are: Portadown (submitted their application 15 minutes after the deadline), Armagh City, Limavady United, Larne and Donegal Celtic.
Bangor City (3rd placed team from 2nd level) is new member of 1st level (same criterias).
