The format of the tournament has changed for this year. The Apertura and Clausura format was removed. In this new format, 16 teams will play a regular league season. All teams that place an even number will qualify for Group A and teams the place an odd number qualify for Group B. The winner of each group will qualify for the Copa Libertadores and contest the final championship. The remaining international cup berths and relegation will be determined by the aggregate table.
